Each day, a new puzzle: a start word and an end word. Transform start into end in exactly four moves.
Use each of the four move types exactly once, in any order.
Anagram
Rearrange all the letters into a different word.
e.g.
heart → earth
table → bleat
shore → horse
Verb
Switch to any other form of the same verb.
e.g.
walk → walks, walked, walking
write → writes, wrote, written, writing
run → runs, ran, running
be → am, is, are, was, were, been, being
Homophone
Swap to a word that sounds the same but is spelled differently.
e.g.
write → right
sea → see
thyme → time
Compound
Jump to a word that combines with the current one to form a closed compound word (one written as a single word).
e.g.
sea → horse (seahorse)
watch → tower (watchtower)
worm → book (bookworm)
Rules
- Each puzzle has only one valid solution.
- The same word cannot appear twice in your path.
- The last move must land exactly on the end word.
- You can undo any move while you're still solving.
- One new puzzle each day, reset at your local midnight.
Example
thyme → bleated
thyme → time (homophone)
time → table (compound, timetable)
table → bleat (anagram)
bleat → bleated (verb)
Perfect mode
Every puzzle starts in Perfect mode: the four move-type pills are hidden, so you work out each slot's type yourself. Stuck? Tap Reveal move order to show them all. That costs you the Perfect for the day, and tomorrow's puzzle starts fresh in Perfect mode.
Sharp, Perfect & Perfect Sharp
Badges earned by how you solve:
- Sharp: solve faster than that day's median time, whether or not you revealed the move order.
- Perfect: solve with the move types kept hidden, at any speed.
- Perfect Sharp: both at once, a hidden-types solve that also beats the median.
Sharing
When you solve, the Share button copies your time and rank. On mobile, it also attaches an image of your result with the puzzle's start and end words (no spoilers).
