What's new
Changes to Twixtle, newest first.
Perfect mode for everyone 2026-07-20
- Every puzzle now starts in Perfect mode, for every player: the four move types begin hidden, and working them out is part of the puzzle.
- Stuck? Tap Reveal solution move order to show all four at once. It costs you that day's Perfect, and tomorrow starts fresh in Perfect mode.
- The Perfect mode toggle is gone from Settings, since there's nothing left to switch. Sharp solves still count whether you revealed the move order or not.
A bonus puzzle every day 2026-07-07
- Twixtle+ members now get a second puzzle every day. Solve the main puzzle, then tap Play Bonus Puzzle on the results card to play it.
- It plays exactly like the daily puzzle and counts the same way: it adds to your solve total and can earn Sharp and Perfect solves. Your streak still counts the main daily puzzle only.
- Missed one? Members can replay past bonus puzzles from the archive, where they sit alongside each day's puzzle with a Bonus tag.
Introducing Twixtle+ 2026-07-06
- Twixtle+ is here: a membership that unlocks the entire puzzle archive, all the way back to the very first day.
- Your streak and solve history now sync to your account, so they follow you to any device you sign in on.
- Detailed stats for members: solve-time trends, lifetime records, and how each finish lands against the rest of the day's players.
- Joining supports development and keeps Twixtle ad-free for everyone. Members can add their name to the supporters list. £2.99 (or $3.99) a month, cancel anytime, from Settings.
Play the archive 2026-06-27
- Missed a day? You can now go back and play past puzzles. Yesterday and the day before are unlocked for everyone.
- Want more? Share Twixtle with a friend, and when they play, your archive grows: the first friend unlocks five more days, then one more for every friend after that, up to two weeks back.
- Look for Play Archive after you solve today's puzzle, or open it from Settings.
Reveals are gone 2026-06-21
- There's no longer any way to reveal a single move type or the answer word, in either mode, so a finished puzzle is always worth passing to a friend.
- Hard mode is now Perfect mode, with a pink toggle in Settings, and it's still the only way to earn a Perfect solve.
- Stuck in Perfect mode? The new Reveal solution move order button shows every move type at once, but it drops you to regular mode for the day, so it gives up that day's Perfect.
New stats and trophies 2026-06-19
- Redesigned stats: a full year heatmap of every day you have played, plus a week by week history you can scroll back through.
- The trophies screen now pins today's progress right at the top.
- TikTok followers can unlock a bonus puzzle.
Solve in any order 2026-06-16
- The board is now free form. Tap any of the in between boxes and fill the words in whatever order you like, forwards or backwards. No more top to bottom only.
A new name: Twixtle 2026-06-11
- Twixt is now Twixtle, living at twixtle.games. Your streak, stats, and history all came across with you, and old links still work.
- A refreshed wordmark and a warmer page background.
Two ways to play, plus dark mode 2026-05-29
- New players now start in Regular mode, where every move type is shown from the start. Want the original challenge? Turn on Hard mode in Settings to keep the types hidden until you reveal them.
- Dark mode has arrived. Toggle it in Settings.
- Trophies got an overhaul: Volume, Streak, Sharp, Perfect, Perfect Sharp, and Champion.
Stats for everyone and clearer hints 2026-05-26
- Your personal stats are now open to every player: streak, full history, and a quality heatmap.
- After you solve, a countdown shows how long until the next puzzle.
- Stuck on a move? The hint now names the move type, and you can tap any move type to see exactly what it means.
- Solves and trophies now share as rich preview cards.
